Owners should also make an effort to keep grass clippings from blowing towards the vents while mowing the lawn. Make sure no plants or weeds can grow up around or into the mini-split condenser as well.
• Clean inside the condenser. Another important measure is spraying out the inside of your mini-split condenser at least once a year. This washes away any buildup of dirt or grime, removing any debris which moved into the mini-split condenser housing. Many mini-split owners remove the top cover when spraying to ensure the housing is cleaned out. Let the condenser unit dry out for around 24 hours.
• Check the lines and piping. Remember to check the lines and copper piping inside and outside your mini-split condenser housing for any oily residues or rust. Refrigerant leaks leave an oily residue and giving your unit a quick once-over saves you hundreds in potential mini-split repairs. Also make sure the unit is level, as an uneven condenser can cause many operating issues.
